SEO Tip #2: Remember Your TARGET Audience. [ Originally Posted houstonbestattorneymarketing.com]

I love this sign in giving the not so subtle message of “hitting the mark.” Second to content and very much content’s little brother is that bloggers must “remember your audience!” Different professions and trades have jargon that is unique to their job and industry. Whereas lawyers know “Jones Act,” offshore workers would almost never Google those search terms. Tradesmen have a litany of jargon all their own and if you want to engage their attention, you simply have to learn their trades, positions, duties, and good old fashion Texan jargon. I’m certainly an attorney. But above all, I’m a Texan, who grew up in East Texas and have very humble roots. I love down home Texans and recall attending a plant worker deposition of a man who worked with my Grandfather for 45 years at a particular plant in East Texas. With 30 lawyers in tow, I inquired as to whether he knew Gramps. This wonderful gentleman picked me up and swung me around like a rag doll–his long lost granddaughter! We were family! And so it was with almost all of my depositions. Being a country girl once upon a time, I haven’t lost my country roots and connected with these amazing gentlemen in ways that made me a much more effective lawyer.
